When I demo the Pink Apothecary No-Mess No-Guess Roll-On Aromatherapy line I frequently meet migraine sufferers. We sell a lot of our Brain Pain roll-on. It is an outstanding analgesic for headaches (sinus and tension headaches included). I have clients who swear by its ability to relieve migraines, but I have another suggestion that just might change your life if you’re a migraine sufferer.
My oldest son suffered from migraines; it was heartbreaking to watch. His symptoms included light sensitivity accompanied by vomiting. His pediatrician did all the right things. She was thorough, empathetic and cautious. She ruled out potential causes before she prescribed a medication. I appreciate that. Eventually, though, the medication was necessary. It helped, but I wanted the migraines to go away completely, so I wasn’t satisfied. I also noticed he started to seem melancholy, and that alarmed me. When he began to develop stomachaches, we stopped the medication with our pediatrician’s blessing.
I began to research magnesium because of his headaches, and the more I researched the more astounded I became. If you get migraines, I would HIGHLY SUGGEST you try transdermal magnesium therapy. There is a good chance your neurologist already recommended that you supplement with magnesium, and there is a good chance you stopped taking it because all it did was make you poop. Ha! Applying magnesium oil to your skin bypasses your digestive system thus eliminating that annoying side effect! My son no longer gets migraines. My boys both get a nightly foot massage with magnesium oil before bed. Not only has it completely stopped my oldest son’s migraines, it has also been extremely beneficial for their sleep. We use Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil.
I personally apply magnesium oil twice daily to my thighs and bum. My skin is really sensitive, so I can’t apply it anywhere else without irritation. Another suggestion if you are sensitive: the soles of your feet. My son also takes Natural Calm Plus Calcium by Natural Vitality. He likes the raspberry-lemon and the cherry flavors…they taste great! I take Mg PLUS Guard by Perque.
It is VERY SAFE to assume you are deficient in magnesium. Modern agricultural practices affecting our food supply, pharmaceutical drug use and stress are just three of the many causes for a deficiency. Magnesium binding sites have been found in 3751 human proteins! These proteins are essential for building, repairing and maintaining your bodies cells. Imagine a door lock. The binding site is the lock and the magnesium is the key. 3751 human proteins have magnesium binding sites – this means that magnesium is literally the key to your health! Science is only beginning to unravel its importance. Nearly every known human disease has a link to magnesium deficiency.
If you have low vitamin D levels, you are likely deficient in magnesium, and until you increase your magnesium levels your body will not absorb your vitamin D3 supplements properly. I also have to supplement with digestive enzymes because I found out my body has a hard time digesting fats; vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. The two supplements I take are Digestzymes by Designs for Health and A.D.K by DaVinci Labs. If you have osteoporosis you are likely deficient in magnesium, and it won’t make a darn bit of difference how much calcium you take if you aren’t taking magnesium in the proper ratio with it. Are you starting to see the importance of this amazing little mineral?
