At Pink Apothecary, we believe aromatherapy is a delicate science with dramatic results. It’s a science that needs to be respected, and quite frankly, protected. In recent years, essential oils sold through network marketing have spurred public interest with trademarked product names, and well-meaning promises to heal cancer, make you skinny and fix your wrinkles. While I love the interest birthed by public awareness, I believe what many lack is a reverence for the potency found in a tiny bottle. More caution is needed – not fear, just caution. I hope my passion will somehow birth in you a deep respect for aromatherapy – not all oils are created equal, and their ability to heal, or cause harm, is dependent upon your desire to learn more. I hope you do!
It was through personal experience that I learned that not all essential oils are created equal. Quite by chance, the first lavender essential oil I purchased as a consumer worked wonders for my skin, and my sleep. The second bottle I purchased from the same company, only irritated my skin, and did next to nothing in the way of relaxation. This experience birth curiosity in me. Through research, I realized lavender is often adulterated. An unadulterated lavender should be healing.
You see, every plant is unique, much like you are. Your fingerprints are yours alone. In the same way, a plant contains a unique chemical “blue print,” so to speak. Lavender grown in the high altitude of France has a different chemical makeup than a lavender grown in the states. Lavender grown in a dry season has a different chemical makeup than lavender grown in a wet season. This is why an aromatherapist can’t blindly buy essential oils, and expect that they will all work the same. This is also why Pink Apothecary makes sure every single essential oil undergoes gas chromatographic analysis with chiral column analysis to ensure that the oils are distilled from the correct botanical species, subspecies and chemotype. In addition, we confirm they have not been diluted, industrially processed or chemically manipulated.
Purity is essential for our products to work. Beyond that, if we are promising you a lavender that is a CNS sedative, then the chemical constituent marked for that therapeutic benefit must be high enough by our standards. For the same reasons, we will not accept a German Chamomile of the alpha bisabolol oxide chemotype because in order for chamomile essential oil to be anti-inflammatory, it needs to contain a significant amount of alpha-bisalolol, rather than the oxide type. If you’ve had a bad experience with chamomile, it was likely because the company was selling the wrong chemotype. Only 100% true, unadulterated botanical essential oils are sold by Pink Apothecary. Like I said, this is a delicate science with dramatic results.
Pink Apothecary certified organic essential oils are third party verified to ensure the plant was grown, harvested, distilled and handled without pesticides, chemicals and other toxic ingredients. This is all according to the USDA/NOP standards. Beyond that, our plants have been grown by the best cultivars in the optimum climatic and soil conditions, and the oils have been extracted using low-heat methodology that is free of toxic chemicals.
Our promise to you is this:
Pink Apothecary will never sell essential oils that have been decolorized, denatured, deterpenized, peroxidized, reconstituted, rectified or mixed with other oils, lipids, alcohol or additional chemical compounds. When you buy essential oils from us – or products containing our essential oils – you have my guarantee that they are pure, as their Creator intended.
